NOTICE: TO PARENTS AND SWIMMERS OF ALL SQUADS ON USE OF LOCKERS Would all swimmers please use the lockers provided instead of leaving their clothes and other possessions in the changing rooms. Swimmers are finding it increasingly difficult to find an empty changing room when arriving at the swimming pool for their squad training sessions. Please show some courtesy to your fellow swimmers and make use of the lockers provided! Thanks. (20 Jan 10)
URGENT !! Help Required with bag packing Sunday 13th December !! We have managed to secure a spot of Bag Packing at Asda in Stenhousemuir on Sunday 13th December 2009 between 10am and 4pm. It has happened quite suddenly as we were not expecting to get in till April/May time next year, but they asked if we could do this weekend as they are needing people anyway to pack bags. Although it is short notice it is far too good an opportunity to pass up. If you or anyone you know can help, please call Lynda Duffell on 07719 251947 for further info. Please please please try to help as this would be a great fundraiser for the club - especially so near to Christmas. Kids have to be 10 and over - although if you are bringing an older one with you and have a youngster - they could be put to use holding the buckets or Carol Singing !!!!!
Reg Wins Local Hero Award in the Sunday Mail Scottish Sports Awards 09!!! The club is immensely proud and pleased that this week Reg was voted Local Hero in this year's Sunday Mail Scottish Sports Awards. More info here
Reg Adams' Retiral Reg Adams, coach of B squad and previously C squad, retires at the end of the year after nearly 50 years service. More Info, and song, here .... We are looking to put together a little video for anyone to say a few words, sing a little group song or anything else they want to do. If you want to be part of this filming will take place at the back café on Tuesday 1st December from 6pm to 8pm and on Sunday 6th December from 5pm to 7pm/. Would be great to get a good few people on it! If you know anyone that was previously associated with the club please spread the word as they are more than welcome to come too. Thanks in advance. CLUB AGM, THURSDAY 3RD DECEMBER, 7pm The club's Annual General Meeting takes place on Thursday 3rd December at 7pm, in the GP room at Grangemouth Sports Complex. We ask that one person from each family attends this meeting, where the organisation and management of the club are discussed, and the Club Committee and office bearers who run the club are appointed. Besides the formal jobs we are always looking for people with ideas and volunteers to help run club This is your chance to get involved and help in shaping and running the club for the benefit of your kids and their swimming. Please attend if you can. (Nov 11)
11th November	TRAINING CANCELLATIONS Sunday 22nd November - I squad Sunday evening training is cancelled. (C squad morning training will take place as usual). Sunday 6th December - I squad Sunday evening training is replaced by additional Club Championship Open events. (C squad morning training will take place as usual.) Wed 9th Dec - Training at the Braes is cancelled
1st November	CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 Heats take place on Tuesday 3rd and Tuesday 10th November Finals night is Tuesday 24th November Warm-up from 6pm, with events from 6.30pm. Additional sessions arranged for 6th December Further details of Championships
1st November	CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 - Training Session Cancellations Please note that the usual training sessions on the Tuesday mornings before, and the Wednesday mornings after these Championship sessions are cancelled.
12th October	TRAINING CANCELLATION - Saturday 24th October 2009 Saturday training cancelled due to Junior League taking place in Grangemouth.
12th October	TRAINING ALTERATIONS - I and B+ squads - Sunday 18th October 2009 50m Long Course Pool Training on Sunday 18th October will take place at Stirling University Pool for I and B+ Squad, 4pm – 6pm
25th Sept	Please return all Club Championship Trophies by 20th October Could all swimmers please return their club championship trophies, cleaned and engraved, to Lesley Lyons, Fiona Hunter or Monique Ferrie. Or hand them in to the trophy desk in the foyer on any Tuesday evening, by no later than Tuesday 20th October, to ensure repair or replacement is possible where necessary. Thanks.
6th Sept	Gold at West Districts Congratulations and very well done to Julie Hunter - Joint West District 50 Fly Champion - after a thrilling dead-heat final - sharing the gold with Charlotte McKenzie of Falkirk Otters.
6th Sept	More Gold at West Districts Congratulations also to the girls relay team, - Alyshia McCracken, Julie Nimmo, Hannah Busby and Julie Hunter. Not only did they win GOLD in both the Girls 10-12 4x50 Metre Freestyle Relay (2:01.05) AND the 10-12 4x50 Metre Medley Relay (2:17.66), they also set new West District Records for both events! 2nd Sept	No School Training Monday 7th September There will be no land or pool training at Larbert High on 7th due to Sept Holiday.
30th August	School Pools: Health & Safety Restrictions Please note that we have been advised by Falkirk Council that regrettably no Parents are now allowed poolside at the school pools for Health and Safety reasons.
27th August	New Wednesday Training Sessions For Improvers and C Squad, commencing Wednesday 2nd September 2009 New training sessions are introduced, both at Braes High School: Wed evening 6.30-7.30 for Improvers lanes 4, 5 and 6. Wed evening 7.30-8.30 for C squad at Braes High School.
24th August	Central Schools Swimming Championships - (Scottish Schools Swimming Trials), 31st October 2009. Copy of information letter sent to Central Schools
24th August	Alton Towers Trip Saturday 10th October 2009 Thank you to everyone who has paid £20.00 deposit for Alton Towers. The balance of £23.00 should be paid to the desk on club night by Tuesday 29th September 2009. Places are still available. If you are interested please pay in full, £43.00 which includes coach travel and park entry ticket by the above date. Please watch the club notice board and website for further information.
29th July	Mags Meeting September 13th - Help and donations needed. We are still looking for volunteers to help in the running of the meeting - please add you name to the list on the board. Also we need more donations for the raffle and tombola. Please help in either way if you can. Thanks.
29th July	Bag Packing Fundraiser - Sainsburys, Linlithgow, Aug 15th, 10am - 4pm If you haven't already signed up for this then please add you name to the list and help raise funds for the club. We especially need to fill slots between 12 and 3pm. Please note that all primary school age children must be supervised by an adult. Remember to wear club outfits - polo shirts, t-shirts etc, if you have them.
29th July	Verucca Alert! There are apparently a lot of them about just now. If you or yours are affected then please take steps(!) to help avoid passing them on. Some further info here and here.
27th July 2009	Visit to M&Ds Sat 25th July. A great time in the sunshine was had by all who went to M&D's on Saturday. A few photographs of the visit are available here. Our squads take on the Gladiators on land and in the the air - with mixed results!
20th July 2009	Summer Outdoor Land Training Sessions - Monday Evenings. Land Training for ‘I’ squad and any ‘B’ squad who are 10 years or older: From Monday 20th July to Monday 17th August inclusive, from 6pm to 8pm. At Grangemouth Rugby Club, Glensburgh Road in the Old Town. Meet on the grass area at 6pm sharp. It will be done outside regardless of weather!!
20th May 2009	Congratulations to our swimmers on so many great swims, medals and PBs at district level at the West District Group 3 Championships held at DG1 Dumfries 16-17 May. GASC were West District Champions in four events : Three to Craig Knight (400m IM; 200m IM; 200m Fly); and one for Dale McAnish (400m IM). The club was 3rd overall out of 28 clubs, with a record high of 134 points for GASC. The top three clubs were separated from the other remaining clubs by 47 points. There were a total 35 medals won by GASC - all round a tremendous performance by our swimmers!!. GASC swimmers results. Complete West District Group 3 results.
14th April 2009	A huge well done to Dale McAnish, who is Scottish National Age Group Champion in the Boys 10-12 years 400m IM (5:27.81) with his swim at the Scottish National Age Group Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh (8th - 12th April). Dale also won Silver in the Boys 10-12 years 100m Freestyle (1:02.69). Full results for all Grangemouth swimmers, who took part in over 50 events over the five day meet, are available here.
23 March 2009	Congratulations to Dale McAnish and Amy Ritchie who have been selected to participate in the Stroke Camp at the National Swimming Academy (Stirling) in April.
16 March 2009	Congratulations to Craig Knight for being selected to swim for Scotland in the recent WISE (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England) Meet in Cardiff. Craig swam a PB in the 200 IM and was also part of the Scotland freestyle relay team. Scotland came second overall in the meet.
