Swimming Squad Fees
Grangemouth Amateur Swimming Club coaches and develops
its swimmers through a squad structure that caters for participants of different
ages and abilities. Different membership fees apply depending on which age group
and training squad you belong to. Details of fees are given below.
Initial swimming assessments are free. After that members Fees are taken in two parts: SASA fees and monthly squad fees.
1 - Annual SASA Membership Fee
The annual fee covers the swimmer's membership of the Scottish
Amateur Swimming Association (SASA).
This includes a "per capita" fee to the West District of SASA, and a small administration
charge to the club. All
swimmers and office-bearers
in the club must pay the annual subscription each April. All swimmers
are members of SASA and are only affiliated to Grangemouth ASC.
The annual fee covers various things connected with the organisation and administration of swimming in Scotland, and beyond (and you can see a copy of SASA's accounts, if you like) but as far as the club is concerned, the main benefit is the insurance that SASA membership provides. Without this insurance swimmers cannot swim with the club - all swimmers must pay the annual fee within one month of joining the club.
The SASA fees for 2009 - 2010 are:
All swimmers - 11 years or older at 31/12/08 - £40 per year
Junior members - 10 years or under at 31/12/08 - £25 per year
2 - Monthly Fees 2009 - 2010
Swimmers also pay regular set fees, the amount depending on which squad they are in. The vast majority of this is goes towards pool hire costs. Fees are collected at the Club desk on Tuesday nights. Current fees (2008 - 2009) are:
Improvers: £10 per month (as revised Jan 2009).
Other squads - as revised April 2009 (increased by £1 per squad)
C Squad: £17 per month
B Squad: £19 per month
B+ Squad: £21 per month
I Squad: £23 per month
This fee makes allowance for holidays and cancellation of training due to pool closure, etc. Missed training sessions will not be reimbursed. However, reimbursement for absence through prolonged illness or injury will be separately considered by the committee.
In order to assist at those times of the year when money always seems to be short, there are two non-payment months - one in December, and another one in a month of your choice.
The club also operates a discount scheme for families with more than two swimmers. The two highest swimmers pay their respective squad fees. The rest of the swimmers pay a reduced fee.
Master or other occasional swimmers pay either per session or the appropriate squad fee, by arrangement with the club desk.
NOTICE OF
REVISED IMPROVERS SQUAD FEES 2009At the January 2009 Committee it was agreed to change the payment schedule for the Improvers and examine the fee level for the Squads.
At present £10.00 is paid every six weeks. All the other squads pay their fees on a monthly basis. It was agreed that for 2009 Improvers Fees would remain at £10.00 but would be due on the first Tuesday of every month.
No payment would be due in December and there would be one other free month which can be taken at a time suitable to yourself.
This brings the Improvers in line with all the other squads and will prove easier to remember when the fees are due.
I appreciate that this will result in extra costs in the year but that the cost of £100 a year continues to represent excellent value for money.
